Cisco introduced Nexus Series Multilayer Switches as a next part of there Data Center 3.0 solution. Well, it's not a big thing or a rocket science in understanding of a Nexus.
Nexus is just an other Multi-Layer Switch like 6500 series switches... with lot of hardware and software changes to increase the performance, stability, flexibility and etc etc. It supports Routing as well as Switching.
If you look at Nexus, Cisco has done many changes as per their experience, knowledge and research on Data Center solutions. My intention here is to make you understand about nexus 7K.
In Nexus 7K there are 2 types of switches available.
7010 – with 10 slots
7018 – with 18 slots
Its just same as your normal 6500 series switches. But there are some difference as per the architecture. We will discuss it in next post.
